Queen Arwa University organizes blood donation campaign for thalassaemia patients
Queen Arwa University in collaboration with the National Centre for Blood Transfusion and Research and Thalassaemia Patients Association in Sana 'a today organized a blood donation campaign for thalassaemia and hereditary blood patients under the slogan "Drop Blood Saves Life".
In the launch, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Ghassan Ali Hashim, noted the importance of this initiative to organize a blood donation campaign to reflect the values of good and giving, based on the principle of humanitarian assistance and the University's desire to support such campaigns that encourage its students to participate in society.
He stressed the importance of intensifying community awareness-raising programmes and campaigns to donate blood and contribute to saving lives from thalassaemia, cancer and other genetic diseases.
On the sidelines of this event, the Department of Student Activities, in cooperation with students of the University, established a charity bazaar for thalassaemia and cancer patients. The President of the University, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Al Khayat, opened the exhibition, the bazaar and the exhibition with the Vice-Chancellor and a number of faculty deans and faculty members.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Ghassan Ali Hashim stressed the University's interest in cooperating with the National Centre for Blood Transfusion by organizing this campaign in order to sense social responsibility towards thalassaemia and cancer patients and provide psychological and moral support to them.
There was a need to raise awareness of the importance of donating blood to help save the lives of thalassaemia and cancer. The University's students are among the participants in this campaign through the medical and student exhibition and their participation in the blood donation process as well as the establishment of charity bazaar for thalassaemia and cancer patients.
In turn, Dr. Latif Rahbi, Dean of the Medical College, acknowledged the efforts of the leaders and officials of the University in their interaction and interest in the implementation of the campaign and urged students to voluntarily donate blood in order to help patients live and stimulate the blood circulation of donors.
At the conclusion of the event, the deans of the colleges attended and gathered students to familiarize visitors with the student medical exhibition held on the sidelines of the event, which included scientific sketches showing all information about blood and its derivatives, haematology, the tasks and benefits of blood donation, as well as visiting the blood donation cart and familiarizing themselves with the contents of the charity bazaar for thalassemia and cancer patients.
The event involves presenting technical and awareness-raising paragraphs on the diseases and complications of thalassaemia disease, how it is transmitted and prevented, as well as honoring the participants in the campaign.
